Garmin, a well-known brand in the GPS and outdoor activity tracking industry, has been the talk of the town lately with rumours of its upcoming release of the Fenix 8. This new model has been highly anticipated by outdoor enthusiasts, fitness enthusiasts, and tech geeks alike.
We expect there to be 3 main variants which will be the Fenix 8s, Fenix 8 and Fenix 8x.
1. Design and Build
The Garmin Fenix 8 is said to have a more refined and sleek design compared to its predecessors. Also to come in a variety of colours, as well as being water resistant.
2. Display and Battery Life
3. Features and Sensors
One of the most exciting rumours about the Garmin Fenix 8 is that it will have new and improved sensors. This includes a pulse oximeter, which measures the saturation of oxygen in the blood, and a barometer, which measures air pressure and can be used to track changes in weather patterns. Also said to have a built-in GPS, GLONASS, and Galileo, which will provide improved navigation and accuracy in tracking outdoor activities.
4. Sports and Fitness Tracking
The Garmin Fenix 8 is said to have advanced sports and fitness tracking features, including heart rate monitoring, step tracking, calorie tracking, and sleep tracking. New features such as stress tracking and recovery time could also make an appearance.
The release date and price of the Garmin Fenix 8 are yet to be officially announced. However, rumours suggest that it may be released in the latter half of 2023 to early 2024.
For watch bands and straps, these will use the same QuickFit straps as in the past iterations with the same 20mm, 22mm, and 26mm depending on the model.

The rumours seems to be coming true – at last – after waiting like what seems forever… the Finnish website leak suggests release date of 4th to 6th September. Lets hope so – this post reveals my research so far, including a contact at Garmin who doesn’t know for sure but it closer to the rumour mill than us outsiders. https://running-universe.com/garmin-fenix-8-release-and-new-features/
